  4. Function:
  5. The purpose of this application is to have several desktop setups for more than one task or user, and to have an easy way to access these setups.

  7. Compatibility:
  8. This application has been tested on RISC OS Versions 3.10 & 3.50

  10. Running:
  11. To run the application just double click on it from a filer window or set it up on you IconBar with !TinyDirs.
  12. When running the program for the first time you will be presented with a registration window, just enter your name to register the product (at the moment this version is Freeware but further versions may become Shareware and require a small fee to cover development costs).

  14. Icons on the main window:
  15. "User list" & "Task list" icons these radio icons determine which of the desktop to use.
  16. "Keep the current setup" icon will quit SetUp without changing the desktop.
  17. "Select User or Task" icon with activate the chosen setup file.

  19. Menu fron the main window:
  20. "Info" Normal program information plus the licencees name
  21. "Desktop" this opens the filer window that contains the desktop files.
  22. "Pinboard" this opens the filer window that contains the pinboard files.
  23. "Backdrop" this opens the filer window that contains the backdrop files.
  24. "Quit" this has the same action asthe "Keep the current setup" icon on the main window.

  26. Changing the "User list"/"Task list" names/descriptions:
  27. This can be done by editing the file Messages that is stored in the !SetUp directory, the length of text allowed depends on which machine you ae using. A RiscPC is able to use different fonts that have varying widths, my advice is to take the trial and error approch.

  29. Saving a desktops settings:
  30. Once you have a desktop setting that you whish to save, you should run SetUp and take the "Pinboard" menu option(this will open a filer window) you should the choose "Save" from the Pinbord menu (Place the pointer on the backdrop and press the menu mouse button to access the pinboard menu) and save the file in the filer window previously opened.

  32. The naming convention for the files is as follows:-
  33. Task1 - For the top task.
  34. Task2 - For the bottom task.
  35. User1 - For the top left user.
  36. User2 - For the top right user.
  37. User3 - For the bottom left user.
  38. User4 - For the bottm right user.
  39. Note: Desktop and Backdrop files follow the same convention.

  42. The use of the desktop file is so that some applications can be initialised befor you display their icons on the pinboard as some time plane white icons are displayed instead of the correct ones.
